CONFERENCE LOCATION & TRANSPORTATION

Dubai is an extremely accessible city, built around smooth transit and world-class infrastructure. Getting there, navigating locally, and key tourist guidelines are broken down below.

Entry Requirements & Flights

  • Arriving: You will land at Dubai International Airport (DXB) or Al Maktoum International (DWC). Flag carriers like Emirates and flydubai offer extensive direct coverage.

  • Visa Policies: Many nationalities (US, Canada, UK, EU, Australia) receive a free 30-day or 90-day visa on arrival. Check your country's eligibility on the official UAE GDRFA/ICP portal prior to booking.

  • Strict Overstay Rules: Overstay grace periods have been eliminated—a flat fine applies starting on day 1 of any overstay. Ensure you leave or extend before expiry.

Local Public Transit

All public transport (Metro, Tram, Bus, Water Bus) uses the Nol Card smart payment system. Cash is not accepted on board.

  • Dubai Metro: Ultra-clean, driverless, and cost-effective. The Red Line runs directly from DXB Airport through major hubs (Downtown, Mall of the Emirates, Dubai Marina).

    • Nol Silver Card: Pick this up at any station for AED 25 (includes AED 19 e-credit). Fares cost AED 3 to AED 7.50 depending on how many zones you cross.

    • Gold Class: Optional premium carriages with guaranteed seating (requires a Gold Nol Card or double fare).

  • Dubai Tram: Connects the Metro to the Dubai Marina and Palm Jumeirah loop.

  • Abras (Traditional Water Taxis): The cheapest scenic transit in the city—just AED 1 cash to cross the Dubai Creek between Bur Dubai and Deira.

Essential Tourist Tips

  • Best Time to Visit: November to March offers ideal outdoor weather (20°C–28°C). Summer months (June–September) feature extreme heat (40°C+) with activity shifting indoors.

  • Dress Code & Etiquette: Dress moderately in public spaces like malls, markets, and streets (covering shoulders and knees is appreciated). Beachwear is standard at private pools and beach clubs, but forbidden in shopping centers.

  • Alcohol Laws: Alcohol is available in licensed hotel bars, clubs, and restaurants. Drinking or being visibly intoxicated in public outdoor spaces (streets, beaches) is strictly prohibited.

  • Payments: Credit/debit cards, Apple Pay, and Google Pay are accepted virtually everywhere. Keep a small amount of AED cash for old-town souks or traditional abras.

  • Connectivity: Pick up a tourist SIM card (e.g., e& or du) at the airport baggage area, or activate an e-SIM prior to arrival

VISA INFORMATION
